Mom: It’s Not What, but Who I want to be (mom hero)

This Down syndrome blog post is about my mother who helped me through the grieving process-my mom hero. 

If you were to ask the 10-year-old version of myself what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would confidently tell you, “A TV News Anchor.” And I was one for a while. For nearly 5 years I worked crazy shifts for little pay, living out my childhood dream. I loved it. I thought I would continue living that dream for the decades to come.

But my 10 year old self couldn’t have known that she would fall madly in love with an Air Force Dentist, she couldn’t have predicted that she’d move 3 times in 1 year and she never would have believed you if you told her that just weeks after her 27th birthday she’d find out her unborn son had Down syndrome.
