“But look at what you are doing right now.”
That was a whisper I felt in my soul recently. I was in the middle stressing out about not doing enough. Specifically, not doing enough for one of my children.
And then, I felt those words. Not audibly. An internal knowing.
Look at what you are doing right now.
I was in the middle of getting ready to lead a church meeting. It was unrelated. But still important.
Maybe there is something in your life you are feeling less than adequate about right now. Maybe you are feeling like you should be doing more at work or more at home. Maybe you feel like you should be further along in that dream you started pursuing.
But maybe, you need a new voice in your head. Maybe you need to hear…
But look at what you are doing right now.
Look at how you are managing so much, look at how you are pouring into the hearts in your home, look at how you are moving the needle towards loving justice with that project…look at what you are doing right now.
I’m not one to say things like, “God said to me…”. I can only think of one other time when I felt words implanted in my soul like this. But perhaps this was the Divine. Perhaps this was the Divine because the words weren’t accusatory, but instead dripped with Grace.
That inner critic of yours isn’t God. When you feel it speaking to you so loudly, pushing you do more than you can handle, accusing of you of not doing, not being enough. That’s not the voice of a God who came here to shock us into the depth of His devotion.
Inhale grace. Exhale love. And look at what you are doing right now.
