The healing work of God is slow.
The healing work of God can seem fast when we look at our bibles. Jesus makes people well with a touch, a word.
And we wonder, why doesn’t it work this way for us?
We forget that the woman bled for 12 whole years. We forget that the man born blind was outcasted his whole life. We forget, or perhaps, were never taught that their healing was not merely about changing their condition but restoring them to society, by making them known.
Healing is not merely altering a person’s circumstances. Healing is not just in that physical cure we desire. It’s not just in the relationship restored. Healing goes deeper than our immediate want.
Healing changes us from the inside. Healing comes when we recognize we are loved and we are meant to be transformed by this love. Healing happens when transformation goes beyond ourselves and starts pushing humanity towards love.
Healing is God revealed in us. And that takes time.
The healing work of God does not always give us what we want. But if we participate, it leaves us changed. It leaves us a little more like the one who made us. It makes us look towards the God who taught us—that even if the worst comes to pass, love has the final say.
The healing work of God is slow. And it is difficult. And it is good. Get my book, The Gift of the Unexpected- Discovering Who You Were Meant to Be When Life Goes Off Plan
